About GIULIOPHOTOGRAPHY
Giulio Saggin left school and, not knowing what he wanted to do, spent a year working as a pizza chef, a dish hand, and as a casual in a biscuit factory.
During this time he started taking photos and, at the end of that year, applied to get into the Queensland College of Art. He was accepted and spent the next two years studying photography.
Upon leaving college he took up a cadetship on the Canberra Times newspaper in January 1989.
He returned to Brisbane and The SUN newspaper in February 1990.
At the end of 1991 he began freelancing in Brisbane and in mid-1992 headed to Scotland looking for work.
He then spent the next five-and-a-half years living and working as a freelance photographer in Edinburgh, having work published in every major Scottish and London-based newspaper.
In February 1998 he left Scotland and hitchhiked all the way around Australia photographing everyone who gave him a lift and writing about each hitch (http://giuliosaggin.blogspot.com).
At the start of 1999 he returned to Brisbane and began freelancing as a press and PR photographer. He also self-published the book of his hitchhiking journey, "...so I did".
Giulio continues to work in the media, based in Brisbane.
